Monday Marathon meals

Where to yum while watching the more in-shape run

ROUNDUP. Running 26 miles is quite a feat, but so is finding the right place to stock up on carbs the night before or an optimal location to eat and drink like a champ while catching the race. We’ve mapped out both, where you should prepare for a fabulous finish and where you can relax if you’re taking it in from the sidelines.

Finish line flight
True to tradition, filling up on carbs helps provide athletes with the energy they need. Friday through Sunday, prep with three pasta plates at the North End’s Prezza. For $30, get your fill of Atkins-phobic dishes including spring pea raviolini with ham, mascarpone and fresh peas or orecchiette with sausage, broccoli rabe and evoo.

Marathon for the social athlete
Boylston Street is THE place to be on Marathon Monday, and for $40, you can party from 8 a.m. to midnight at Vox Populi. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvre and a buffet including the “Marathomelet.” Wash it down with drinks like the “Finish Line Mojito,” “Heartbreak Cocktail” and “Marathontini.”

Atlantic Fish Co.’s front-row seats

While it may cost $40 to spend the day inside neighboring Vox, the only thing required to survey the scene from Atlantic Fish Co. is a reservation. Well, not exactly. Your spot will be secured with a $25 fee, but that amount can be used as credit on your tab. It covers the cost of items like a platter of deep-fried shrimp, scallops, cod and fries.

The great outdoors
Further down Boylston, The Rattlesnake Bar & Grill offers a sanctuary above the crowded streets. The infamous roofdeck opens for the race. Enjoy margaritas and munch on quesadillas while onlookers battle for breathing room below. And hope for nice weather. That’s required.
