Even more trouble for Winehouse

GOSSIP. Shocking gossip news: Amy Winehouse was arrested yesterday in London on suspicion of drug possession. This is apparently due to the infamous video of her smoking crack that was unearthed a few months ago. Like most of you, we’ve seen the video. And yes, she’s smoking crack. On tape. Now we don’t claim to be CSIs by any stretch of the imagination, but that seems like pretty airtight evidence, right? So what the heck took so long? We expect this kind of delay when a bike gets stolen or a murder happens in the bad part of town. But a celeb on tape smoking crack? This should be bumped up to “white kid gets kidnapped” level of police action.

A sellout smackdown
We never thought we would say this, but: poor Star Jones. The recently separated, former talk show host (who seems to be doing a whole lotta nothing these days) is now part of a public smackdown with none other than Barbara Walters. To catch you up, on Monday, Babs went on “Oprah” to hype her new book; she also used the time to talk about how Jones used to be so fat she couldn’t walk onto the set of “The View” and how loud her co-host’s labored breathing was. Walters then dished about Jones’ gastric bypass and how the “View” ladies were asked to lie to their audience because Jones was claiming her weight loss was due to “smaller portions and Pilates.” Ouch.

So yesterday, Star Jones fought back, saying this to Us Weekly: “It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character.”

So let’s get this straight. Walters is basically calling Jones a fat, manipulative liar and Jones is calling Walters a dying tramp.  We guess they’re finally getting around to that whole “truth in journalism” thing we always hear so much about.
