Red Sox:
The Sox open a four-game set this weekend in Minnesota against the Twins. On Friday night at 8:10, Jon Lester (2-2, 3.94 ERA) opposes righty Boof Bonser (2-4, 4.29 ERA). Saturday at 7:10 p.m., it’ll be Daisuke Matsuzaka (5-0, 2.43 ERA) squaring off against southpaw Glen Perkins, who will be making his first start of the season (both games on NESN and AM 680 WRKO). On Sunday night at 8, Tim Wakefield (3-1, 3.33 ERA) will meet righty Nick Blackburn (2-2, 3.65 ERA), the latter of whom was on the losing end of Gavin Floyd’s near no-hitter on Tuesday (ESPN, AM 680 WRKO).
Celtics:
Papa John’s has apologized to LeBron James for the “Crybaby” shirts they created at the expense of the young Cavs’ star. But they didn’t stop there — going the extra cheese-filled mile, they sold large, single-topping pies for 23 cents in Cleveland Friday. So if you’re tuning in Saturday night at 8 for Game 3 of the Cavs-C’s series (ABC, Sportsradio 850 WEEI), expect to see plenty of lethargic, tubby Cavs fans unable to make much noise at all because they’re all in various stages of a food coma. Nice job, Papa John’s!
Revolution:
The Revs will be looking to climb back above the .500 mark with its league-best third road win of the season this weekend, as the club will travel to visit Chivas USA Sunday at 3 p.m. (TV38, Sportsradio 850 WEEI). The brief six-game, regular-season series between the clubs has been remarkably even, as the overall series is tied at 2-2-2, with each team going 2-0-1 at home.
