Red Sox:
The Sox and O’s finish up their two-game set tonight at 7 at Oriole Park (NESN, AM 680 WRKO). Boston is scheduled to send young lefty Jon Lester (2-2, 4.06 ERA) to the hill against Baltimore’s Daniel Cabrera (3-1, 4.54 ERA). Lester’s last outing was a bit of a mixed bag, allowing 5 runs in 5 1/3 in a loss to the Twins. But he looks to right the ship against a team he’s always enjoyed some good success against, the Orioles — in three career starts against Baltimore, he’s 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings pitched. As for Cabrera, he’s best known among Red Sox fans as the guy who initiated a beanball war between the O’s and Sox last September.
Celtics:
The Celtics and Cavs meet in a key Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series tonight at 8 at the TD Banknorth Garden (TNT, Sportsradio 850 WEEI). One guy who’s having a great postseason is Ohio native James Posey. According to our basketball guy Jeff Howe, Posey’s minutes are down in the playoffs — 23.0 per game compared to 24.6 in the regular season, although he is averaging the same amount of points (7.7). Posey has also recorded 4.0 rebounds and 1.09 steals per game in the postseason.
Revolution:
The Revs host San Jose Saturday night at 7:30 at Gillette Stadium (TV38). The Revs are 0-9-3 in their last 12 meetings with the Earthquakes, including 0-6-1 in their last seven meetings in New England.
