CBS lightens up (a little)

PREVIEW. CBS, best known for its dark crime procedurals, is looking for laughs this fall. The network announced the pickup of two comedies and one romantic dramedy yesterday at its annual Upfront presentation.

“Project Gary” stars Jay Mohr and Paula Marshall as dueling ex-spouses, while “Worst Week,” adapted from a British sitcom, follows a good guy who got the girl, but now is faced with winning over her folks.

“The Ex List” is described as “a sexy comedic drama” about a woman searching for a husband among her former flames.

On the serious side, CBS added producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s version of the British science-based thriller “Eleventh Hour” to its roster, as well as the drama “The Mentalist,” starring Simon Baker as a psychic turned detective.
