The Buzz: 4/15

Red Sox:
The Sox have the day off today, but get back to action tomorrow night at Fenway when they host the Brewers Friday at 7 in the first game of a three-game set (NESN, AM 680 WRKO). In the series opener, the Sox will send Daisuke Matsuzaka (6-0, 2.45 ERA) to the hill against former Boston starter Jeff Suppan (2-3, 4.63 ERA). Dice-K is on a bit of a roll — he’s unbeaten in his last 11 starts, dating back to Sept. 14, 2007. Tomorrow marks his first career start against the Brewers. The Sox have always hit Suppan well, but Manny Ramirez (7-for-21, three homers, seven RBIs) has traditionally feasted on Suppan’s offerings.

Celtics:
While we’ve spent a good portion of the season celebrating the C’s, the guy who deserves to take a bow today is Boston basketball boss Danny Ainge, who was named the NBA Executive of the Year yesterday. Ainge, who pulled the trigger on the trades for Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, helped orchestrate the greatest turnaround in NBA history with a 32-game improvement. We’ll see if they can keep that magic going in tomorrow night’s Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semis between the C’s and the Cavs (ESPN, Sportsradio 850 WEEI).

Revolution:

The Revs host San Jose Saturday night at 7:30 at Gillette Stadium (TV38, Sportsradio 850 WEEI). From 1996 through 2000, the Revs held the upper hand in this series, going 8-6-1, but since 2001, San Jose has turned the tables, as the Revs are 0-9-3 in their last 12 meetings with the Earthquakes, including 0-6-1 in their last seven meetings in New England.
