BOSTON. A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a drunk driver in West Roxbury Saturday night, according to police.
Patricia Doland, 44, of Roslindale, has been charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after causing personal injury. The unidentified female victim, who was in her 50s, was rushed to Brigham & Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Boston Police.
Authorities say the victim was on her cell phone and was crossing the street in a crosswalk near Centre Street and Belgrade Avenue when she was hit. They said Dolan initially denied knowing about the incident, but later admitted she hit the victim with her car.
Cop punched unconscious during melee with suspects
BOSTON. A police officer was punched briefly unconscious early yesterday morning by a Dorchester man after the man and several others were approached following an altercation near Faneuil Hall and the Financial District. Around 2:25 a.m., police approached two men at 75 State St. after one man had pushed the other into a wall.
Police said the man who pushed the other “became combative and belligerent,” and he was later pepper sprayed after police told him to stop his aggressive behavior. When the man, 28-year-old Edward Franklin Douglas, fled into a parking garage with four other men, police followed, at which point he allegedly knocked out one of the officers unconscious. He was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
