It’s not easy to get Clique Girlz to sit down for an interview. So says their stage mom, as the three teens run down the docks to look at the boats in their hometown of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
These baby blonde bombshells may giggle and gush like typical teens, but they’re superstars in training. Sisters Paris and Destinee along with their best friend Ariel have been singing together since they were nine, and they recently signed to Interscope records.
The Clique Girlz are much more distinctive than your normal Disney-generated pop sensation.
“Since we’re three girls, we’ve been compared to the Jonas Brothers, but we like to be different.” says Destinee. “We’re all blondes.”
Despite being born in the ’90s, these girls claim musical influences from before their time.
“The Rolling Stones have been together so long,” says Paris.
The other girls agree with enthusiasm, and though their music sounds more like Pink than Mick Jagger, perhaps the Stones are more inspirational in terms of endurance.
“They’re already really old,” explains Ariel. “They inspire us to be together longer. We want to have longevity in our career.”
Paris adds, “We’ve got an early start so that just might happen.”
The girls say they are excited to return to Massachusetts today.
“My favorite part of Boston is the water. It’s so nice there and its really cute. I like it.” says Destinee.
Just don’t tell her how dirty it is. Those discoveries come with age.
