Baskin Robbins
It’s tragic that the 31 Flavors of our youth are slowly being enveloped by that corporate monster Dunkin’ Donuts, but we’re not that sad. Decline in business means $1 scoop Tuesdays for us! We’ll take all 31 please.

One Bow St., Cambridge. 617.354.4929.
Ben & Jerry’s
Yes, those are wax figures of the real Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield in the window. It doesn’t mean their Cherry Garcia is any less tasty.

174 Newbury St., Boston. 617.536.5456.
BerryLine
For those with health concerns over fat content, BerryLine is your friend. This tiny frozen yogurt shop just experienced its first summer. The frozen yogurt comes in original, grapefruit, and Oreo flavors.

3 Arrow St., Cambridge. 617.868.3500.
Christina’s Homemade Ice Cream
Christina’s is a cult fave with just about everyone from Cambridge or Somer-ville, bridging the gap between hipsters and families with ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt all made on the premises. With unusual flavors like Adzuki Bean and Honey Lavender and seasonal hits Fresh Mint, Apple Cider, and Concord Grape, it’s no wonder they also own the adjacent Christina’s Spice & Specialty Foods next door.

1255 Cambridge St., Cambridge. 617.492.7021.
Cold Stone Creamery
This sweet-smelling shop, infamous for folding a smorgasbord of candy into even sweeter ice cream, is conveniently located in multiple areas around Boston University dorm rooms. You won’t even have to try to gain the freshman 15.

201 Brookline Ave. 617.266.2653.
957 Comm. Ave. 617.254.5900.

Toscanini’s
New York Times food critics said their Burnt Caramel flavor is guaranteed to bring tasters to their knees. Recommended for first dates. Heh.

899 Main St., Cambridge.  617.491.5877.
Emack &Bolio’s
You can pretend you’re getting a power smoothie or a fresh cup of hand-roasted coffee, but it’s impossible not to eat your weight in their grasshopper pie ice cream. Stop lying already; you have a sticky green substance on your face.

140 Brookline Ave., Boston. 617.262.1569.
290 Newbury St., Boston. 617.536 .7127. ‘23 White St., Cambridge. 617 .492 .1907.

Herrell’s
A double fudge and Oreo “smoosh-in” at Herrell’s is a better hangover cure than coffee and cigarettes. That may or may not be true, but you’ll still find a lot of hurtin’ undergrads typing on laptops and eating delicious gourmet ice cream in this hipster Mecca.

155 Brighton Ave, Allston. 617.497.2179.

Reliable ’ol Ironsides
intoxiKATEd. Accompanied by two former regulars, we dined and drank in the shadow of American history at Ironsides Grill, a bar named after Old Ironsides herself, retired in the nearby Charlestown Navy Yard.

Murphys Law: All for one and one for all
The Dropkick Murphys are not just from Boston, they are Boston. And like any honest rendering of a community, they represent the good, the bad and the ugly.

Sports
There’s no scene quite like that around a Boston ballpark, arena or stadium. The hometown fans share a passion for their teams that rivals nothing else...

Theatre
So there’s this area called “The Theatre District.” Guess what they have there. Well, yes, they do have a lot of beggers and people who may or may not be prostitutes, but there are also a bunch of places to catch a great show. There are several ways of getting cheap tickets, which we detail in the sidebar, but you can also check out www.bostontheatrescene.com.

Hollywood in the Hub is so 'Happening'
In the past few years, Boston has grown into a major filming location for big movies. The coolest part about that is all the stars you can see doing stuff regular people do, albeit with a little more fanfare. In the past year alone, we’ve seen Kate Hudson on Newbury Street, Leonardo DiCaprio downtown and Natalie Portman in Harvard Square.

Services
You need a 24-hour store? We’ve got it.  We’ve also got hardware stores, places that fix your computer and places to rent cars.

Karaoke
The time has come to seize that tiny slip of paper, look up the code in the big book of songs and show the crowd what the mirror has been privy to for so long: You shouldn’t give up school for a career in singing. At least not yet.
