Metro Animation Contest

Metro and the Magners Irish Film Festival are looking for Boston’s next great animation wiz! Whether you’re an accomplished animator, or just someone who enjoys creating eye-catching animations, then here’s your chance!

The winning animation will be shown prior to select screenings at the 10th Annual Magners Irish Film Festival, plus receive a cash prize.

Entry Guidelines

•  Animated short should run between 10 - 20 seconds, and must not exceed 20 seconds.
• The short must make creative use of the Magners Irish Film Festival clapperboard logo and the Boston Metro logo, capturing the sense of contemporary Ireland and/or global Irish community and Boston's  contemporary Irish/film culture. To obtain these images, right click the images here and left click on “Save As” to save to your desktop.
•  There is no entry fee to enter
• Entries will be judged by a panel assembled by both Metro and the producers of the Magners Irish Film Festival.
  

• $300 cash prize
• Recognition and Award presented at the Magners Irish Film Festival
• Exposure of their animated short shown during the Magners Irish Film Festival, prior to all screenings for the week of Nov. 13- 24th.
•  Additional prize includes a Casio Exilim Camera courtesy of Magners and complimentary festival VIP passes.
• 1st and 2nd Runners Up will receive: 2 VIP passes to the Magners Irish Film Festival, a $20 Gift Certificate to Grafton Street Restaurant and Pub, and a slew of Magners gear
  

Rules and Regulations:

• Length of Entry:  10 - 20 seconds, no longer than 20 seconds
• Music used cannot be copyrighted 
• Short must not exploit the consumption of Magners Irish Cider (or other alcohol), binge drinking, and must avoid typical Irish stereotypes (ie; shamrock's, leprechauns, etc.)
• Contestants must submit entries on DVD with Name, Address, Email, and Telephone Number to Metro Boston, ATTN: Metro Animation Contest, 320 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210
• Submissions Deadline: November 1st, 2008 at 5:00pm.  
• Winners will be announced on or about November 5th
• All use of the winning animation is subject to approval of the organizers of the Magners Irish Film Festival, who remain the de facto rights holders of the winning animation.  All efforts will be made to acknowledge the creative ownership of the winning animator(s) at all festival events where the winning animation is screened
• DVD submission entries will not be returned; DVD submission entries become the property of both Metro and the Magners Irish Film Festival.
