Storrow tunnel to be closed at nigh

BOSTON. The Storrow Drive Tunnel will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning yesterday, September 28, for several months to expedite repairs inside the tunnel. The work could finish next spring, at least three months ahead of schedule, according to engineers from the Department of Conservation and Recreation and SPS New England, Inc., the agency’s contractor.

A one-week experimental closure earlier this month was deemed successful. Inbound traffic approaching the tunnel will be rerouted across the Western Avenue and River Street bridges to Memorial Drive in Cambridge. Outbound traffic will not be affected.
