BOSTON. Mayor Thomas Menino, his right knee and the Red Sox’ postseason push all seem to go together of late.
Almost a year after he injured the knee in a tumble at a Red Sox championship rally, Menino is set to have the it scoped sometime before the opening pitch in the American League Championship Series on Friday.
“It’s something I’ve been feeling for a year or so now,” Menino said yesterday. “I went to physical therapy for a long time for it.”
On Oct. 30, 2007, Menino was walking off a stage at Fenway Park carrying one of the Red Sox’ championship trophies when he stumbled. The mayor did well to keep his balance while not dropping the trophy, but was unable to work the hyper-extended knee back to health over the past year.
Menino, walking without a limp yesterday, downplayed the procedure and insisted he will be back at work the next day.
