Sensational snow and skiing

Feel like hitting the slopes — in Iran? Here are some of the world’s most exotic spots

Or stay local

Look. We realize that not everyone can afford to go snow-tubing in Dubai or sledding in Serbia. That’s why God created the Internet, weekend ski trips and credit limits. Check out Boston Ski & Sports Club (www.bssc.com) or the Boston Ski Party, a club for African-American skiers (www.bostonskiparty.org), for their schedule of affordable ski trips this winter. Not into groups of strangers? You can always organize a trip with your friends and family to one of the many mountains around Boston. We like going to Wachusett Mountain (www.wachusett.com), basically for the fact that it’s super close and after a few falls, we can come back to the paved streets of the city, where we belong.

Are the New England mountains just too small-time for you? Do you think that the Rockies are becoming boring? If you’re looking for exotic — and extreme — skiing this winter season, have we got some unusual winter sports destinations for you.
