BOSTON. Small businesses in Boston can now band together to purchase energy at a lower fixed rate through an initiative announced yesterday by Mayor Thomas Menino.

Boston Buying Power utilizes a consultant to procure energy supply at a long-term fixed price for large groups of businesses.

“Boston Buying Power is designed to give our hard-working small business sector the peace of mind that comes from long-term price certainty and budget stability,” Menino said yesterday from Model Hardware in Allston.

The mayor called for continued support for small businesses.

Taylor Consulting and Contracting, of Pennsylvania, was selected to serve as the energy broker and consultant for Boston Buying Power. Taylor COO Scott Stiner predicted that in a year the program "could be the single largest purchaser of energy in Massachusetts.”

An explosive show for July! Oh yeah, and we also test your knowledge of America songs in the MMMPod medley.
