BOSTON. A drunk driver allegedly struck and killed a man crossing Soldier’s Field Road in Allston early yesterday morning, according to state police.
The accident happened shortly after 3 a.m. Police said 26-year-old Robert Finnerty of Charlestown was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound when he hit the pedestrian. The incident took place near where Everett Street intersects with Soldier's Field Road.
State police said Finnerty has been arrested and charged with drunk driving.
Neither Finnerty nor his 25-year-old passenger in the Jeep were injured in the crash, and police had not officially identified the victim as of last night.
