Halloran: Doc deserves more credit for C’s success
Don’t do this to Doc Rivers. It’s not fair, and you know it. The big knock on Rivers as a head coach has been: “He can’t win in the playoffs.” You say it. It gets repeated. And it becomes fact without any further analysis. And now you’re doing him the greatest disservice.

RED SOX: The Sox put the wraps on a four-game set with the Twins tonight at 7 in Minnesota (NESN, AM 680 WRKO). Clay Buchholz (2-2, 4.50 ERA) will be making his first career start against the Twins, while Minnesota is set to counter with veteran righty Livan Hernandez (5-1, 3.83 ERA).

Two diamond stories collided early this week. One, about softball. The other, hardball. The first is one I hope you’re already familiar with: Sara Tucholsky, a senior at Western Oregon University, hit a three-run homer in a game with playoff implications. It was her first home run — ever.
